100 Black Men of Central Virginia awards 48 scholarships to area students – 29 News

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – 100 Black Men of Central Virginia celebrated high school seniors from the greater Charlottesville region on Sunday.
The mission of the non-profit is designed to celebrate student achievement.
48 African American high school seniors received scholarships for their academic achievements and involvement in the community.
“College is extremely expensive. I have a college student right now – and just the startup costs, you know, just the moving costs. All of that is a ton of money,” said President of 100 Black Men of Central Virginia James Watson, “So hopefully this will make that a little bit easier for these families.”
Each scholarship recipient has already accepted a college offer.
