Publications and Research Writing Manager
2024 year was another productive year for the University of Denver’s research and scholarship activities. With more than $50 million in external research expenditures and 132 new grant agreements, the University has continued growing in its status as an R1 institution. 
“The excitement around research this year was different than in years past. There was a level of excitement campus-wide, among both faculty and students, that was infectious, fun and nice to see,” says Corinne Lengsfeld, senior vice provost for research and graduate education. 
Here’s a look at key highlights from fiscal year 2024. 
Total amount of DU research expenditures, with approximately 80% being federally funded and about 12% coming from the state or local level. 
Number of newly designated institutes
Total amount of expenditures from the highest earning division, the Graduate School of Social Work, followed by the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at $9.4M. 
Number of principal and co-principal investigators. 
Number of faculty citations. 
Number of undergraduates who participate in research, with more than 90 students participating in the 2024 Research & Scholarship Showcase. Read about a few of the projects in the latest issue of the Undergraduate Research Journal.
Elite and national media placements in news outlets like The Washington Post, Newsweek, CNBC, NBC News and The New York Times. In addition, there were 558 local media placements. 
Percentage increase in media placements from DU’s Public Impact Fellows (PIF). This PIF program was created in 2018 to increase faculty reach and the impact of the University’s thought leaders.
Master’s degrees awarded.  
Doctoral degrees awarded.
