Local student Lindsey Hodge has become a semifinalist for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Cambria County senior home-school student Lindsey Hodge has earned a spot as a semifinalist for the National Merit Scholarship.
Semifinalists are the highest-scoring students from each state on both the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, or PSAT, and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Out of the nearly 1.5 million students from across the United States who took the tests, these students had to score in the top 1%.
Hodge earned a perfect score in the verbal portion, with an overall score of 1,500 out of a possible 1520 on her PSAT.
About 15,000 students will be selected to become one of 8,000 finalists.
