Chancellor’s Award Winner Exemplifies Creative Teaching, Scholarship – Texas Christian University

University leadership recently topped off its annual fall awards recognizing teaching and scholarship, which is the heart of the work underway at TCU.
The 2025 winner of the Chancellor’s Award for Distinguished Achievement as a Creative Teacher and Scholar is Kayla Green, professor of chemistry in TCU’s College of Science & Engineering and prolific researcher.
Green was chosen in part for her international reputation in the field of inorganic chemistry as applied to neurodegenerative diseases and catalysis, as well as her leadership in a growing research program that has brought in more than $2 million in external support.
“In my view, Professor Green exemplifies the fact that student success cannot happen without research, and world-leading research cannot happen without authentic, student-centered experiences,” wrote a nominator. “Professor Green has maintained a vibrant, externally funded research program throughout the past 15 years, a distinction shared by very few TCU faculty.”
The Chancellor’s Award for Distinguished Achievement as a Creative Teacher and Scholar recognizes exceptional accomplishments of faculty members for their outstanding contributions to teaching and scholarship. The award was established to acknowledge the extraordinary creative teaching and high-quality research that occurs within the university’s academic disciplines.
