CLARION, Pa. — At a meeting held at the Liberty House, the Kiwanis Club of Clarion awarded their annual scholarships to two local high school graduates and a member of the Circle K Club at PennWest Clarion.
Emma Gruber was presented with the Ivan and MaryJo Rhode High School Scholarship. Emma is a recent graduate of Keystone High School with honors. She will attend PennWest-Clarion in the fall, majoring in Medical Imaging and Sports Management.
Emma read her application essay, emphasizing her community service during the program. She was accompanied by her parents Todd and Deanna Gruber.
Gavin Howarth, an honor graduate of North Clarion High School, was the other high school scholarship winner.
At North Clarion, Gavin was a member of the National Honor Society and very active in volunteering and community service. His parents are Mike and Brenda Howarth.
The Randall Stom Circle K Scholarship winner was Mischa Corrigan (photo unavailable). Mischa is a second-semester freshman at PennWest Clarion majoring in Medical Imaging.
Mischa is from Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania, and is the daughter of Bobby and Miranda Corrigan.
Also during this program, the drawing was held for the C&A Trees gift certificate. This is the spring raffle of the Club with all proceeds going to the scholarship fund.
Kiwanian Ken Ritts presented the gift card to the winner, Diane Gross.
A new member was also inducted into the club during the meeting. Ms. Arloue Galen, who is employed by the District Attorney, became an official member of the Kiwanis Club of Clarion.
Ms. Galen has been participating with the club in various activities for the past nine months. The Club’s membership is proud to have her join as they continue to carry out the mission of Kiwanis International — “Serving the Children of the World.”
