NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The family of a missing man who was found dead in Nashville on Dec. 5 has started a scholarship fund in his memory.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a Silver Alert for 64-year-old Gerardo Behori on Nov. 22. He had last been seen at at his job at Republic High School on Brick Church Pike on Nov. 15.
Behori’s two children spent the Thanksgiving holiday searching for him. They said they had last heard from him Nov. 17 through text message.
“We’re prepared for, or trying to prepare for any sort of outcome,” Behori’s daughter, Madina Behori told WSMV4. “But we just need an outcome.”
Just a week later, the TBI announced that Behori’s body had been located in Nashville.
Now, his children want to honor his memory with a scholarship fund.
“In honor of his over 2 decades as a high school Spanish teacher as well as his love for higher education, my brother and I have launched the Gerardo Behori Dream Fund,” the said in their fund’s description.
The scholarship fund will help children from West and Central Africa looking for education opportunities in the U.S., as Behori was born in Equatorial Guinea, his kids said.
“Through this scholarship fund, he can help students from the region achieve their dreams too,” the Behori kids said.
