The Greeley Stampede Foundation announced the 2024 recipients for three recently established scholarships: the continuation, collegiate rodeo athlete and first responder. The recipients are current college students and Weld County high school graduates.
The continuation scholarship was awarded to Paige Hill and Makynna Hollis. Hill is a nursing student at the University of Northern Colorado. Hollis is studying sports and exercise science at Fort Hays State University and is also on the pre-med track. The scholarship is awarded to two students who received the foundation’s scholarship as high school seniors. It awards an additional $2,500 to assist students in their higher education journey.
Josie Roselle, a nursing student at Colorado Mesa University, was awarded the collegiate rodeo $2,500 scholarship to help with tuition. Rosella is a graduate of Eaton High School, who competes on the CMU rodeo team in barrel racing and breakaway roping. Rosella was awarded the scholarship in 2023, too.
The first responder scholarship was created in 2023 thanks in part to a partnership with Aims Community College to provide a scholarship to a student enrolled in EMS, EMT, paramedic or fire science program.
Paul Cangilla is this year’s recipient of the first responder scholarship. Cangilla, a Greeley West High School graduate, currently works for the Adams County Fire Rescue. He is also working toward a bachelor’s degree in public safety administration.
Since its foundation in 2001, the Greeley Stampede Foundation has helped nearly 700 Weld County high school seniors with their higher education goals and given more than $1 million in scholarships.
