The application period for rodeo scholarships starts Dec. 16. The annual event is scheduled for March 4-23 at NRG Park.
In its largest commitment to date, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has pledged more than $28 million for Texas education programs in 2025.
The new dedication brings the rodeo’s total commitment to education programs up to $632 million since 1932, the organization announced Tuesday.
“As one of the core missions of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, being able to support Texas youth and education is one of our most prized achievements,” Chris Boleman, the rodeo’s CEO and president, said in a statement.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which will be held from March 4-23 at NRG Park, will award $14.7 million in scholarships, more than $9.7 million to junior show exhibitors, $3 million in education program grants and more than $480,000 to graduate assistantship programs across Texas.
Vocational scholarships increased from $400,000 to $500,000 for the year 2025. Schools with eligible vocational scholarship programs include Del Mar College, Houston Community College, Lamar Institute of Technology and other vocational schools. Brazosport College will be added to the list of vocational scholarship schools, according to Marisa Saenz, a media relations manager for the rodeo.

More than 800 scholarships will be awarded through the rodeo’s scholarship program, which includes Houston-area Rodeo Scholars, Texas 4-H members and Texas Future Farmers of America.
Rodeo scholarship applications are available online starting Dec. 16. The application period closes at 7:59 p.m. Jan. 31. Selected scholarship recipients will be notified in May. Eligibility requirements for the scholarships can be found online.
Graduate assistantship programs are available to students at 11 Texas universities, including Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M.
More than $16 million has been awarded in graduate assistantship programs since the 1970s, according to the rodeo.
“It is because of our over 35,000 volunteers, donors, partners, sponsors and Houston community who support our mission year-round that allow us to continue to grow the rodeo’s charitable mission, allowing both the organization and Texas students to achieve the extraordinary,” Boleman said.
