Chloe Morin-Gagnon of Azilda one of 40 recipients in Ontario
An Azilda student has received a scholarship from the Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario to help with her post-secondary studies.
Chloe Morin-Gagnon, who is pursuing at bachelor of science degree at Laurentian University, was awarded $3,000 to go toward her education in 2025-26.
The local student is one of 40 across the province to earn a scholarship from the MROO for this academic year.
“All recipients are family members of current MROO members,” the organization said in a release, “with recipients determined based on the number of applicants and specific eligibility criteria, including the student’s leadership skills, volunteer experience, and commitment to making a difference in their communities.”
Scholarships are awarded 10 zones and Morin-Gagnon is one of two recipients in Zone 7, which covers the districts of Parry Sound, Nipissing, Sudbury, Manitoulin, Algoma, Cochrane and Timiskaming. The other Zone 7 recipient is Alyssa Delich, from Schumacher.
Altogether, MROO is contributing $120,000 to help the 40 students selected this year.
“The MROO scholarship program is an integral part of MROO’s mandate to give back to our members and communities across Ontario,” said Zone 7 director Carol Conrad in the release.”We are so happy to support our future leaders through our annual student scholarship program. Congratulations to Chloe and Alyssa!”
