Lawton-area high school seniors awarded $35,000 in scholarships – KAUZ

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Senior high school students from the Lawton area were awarded $35,000 in scholarships this month for being active in the community.
This funding comes from the Lawton Community Foundation who will be hosting a celebration breakfast on April 25 to honor the 17 scholarship winners from Comanche County high schools.
At the 7:30 a.m. event at the Lawton Farmer’s Market, students, their parents, community partners and donors along with keynote speaker and Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Traci Manuel are invited to celebrate at the breakfast.
The Farmer’s Market is at 77 SW 4th Street in Lawton.
The LCF’s annual scholarship awards are funded by its donors. Recipients were chosen for their grades and activities within the Comanche County community.
The LCF has other scholarships available for those in ROTC or students with plans to attend Cameron University or Great Plains Technology Center.
“The Lawton leaders of tomorrow will be some of these excellent students receiving these scholarships, and we are happy to invest in their futures,” Michael C. Mayhall, LCF Board of Trustees president said. “This is one of the largest groups of Lawton Foundation Scholars, and we are so excited to see how these scholarships serve as a springboard to their academic careers.”
