The eight, who attend Columbia Bible College (CBC) in Abbotsford, B.C., Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) in Winnipeg and Steinbach Bible College (SBC), will serve with MDS for one month each in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

In return, they will receive a scholarship that covers the cost of four three-credit hour courses for the 2023-24 academic year at their schools.

The students are:

Brayden King, Sonrise Church (Apostolic Church of the Pentecost) in Surrey, B.C.

Christina Klassen, The Life Centre (Mennonite Brethren) in Abbotsford, B.C.

Jared Sumner, Jericho Ridge Community Church (Mennonite Brethren), Surrey, B.C.

The purpose of the MDS Scholarship is to promote service and volunteering in a younger generation while also supporting them in their studies.

It replaces the Sheep and Goats Scholarship that provided support for 42 students from the three schools from 2015 to 2022.
