Rotary Club of River Cities awards scholarships to recent high school grads – Daily Herald

The Rotary Club of River Cities has awarded two $1,500 scholarships to recent high school graduates Miguel Aenlle of Mount Prospect and Katelyn Dahl of Des Plaines.
Aenlle graduated from John Hersey High School where he founded and directed Hersey Developers Internship program. He also founded JHHS Hack Club and the Hack-a-thon.
Additionally, he created an app widely used by teachers, District 214 and various community organizations. Aenlle intends to earn his bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
Dahl graduated from Maine West where she was a standout athlete in volleyball and basketball. She was instrumental in starting the girls flag football program at Maine West.
Dahl also volunteers several hours each week at the Des Plaines Food Pantry. She intends to earn her bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
The scholarships were awarded to students who best demonstrated the Rotary key values of “Service Above Self,” leadership, and community service.
Rotary Club of River Cities serves the communities of Mount Prospect, Des Plaines, and Prospect Heights.
