Six area students were recognized for academic excellence with the Johnny Callahan Scholarship immediately following the Minneapolis community Fourth of July Parade on Saturday, July 6. The scholarship program has awarded more than $40,000 since its inception to local students seeking higher education. This year’s recipients of $500 scholarships include, pictured from left, Dalton Harmon, Rebecca Sheppard, Shelby Grindstaff, Madyson Carter, Noah Holtsclaw and Elijah Holtsclaw. The scholarship is named in memory of late Minneapolis community member John Callahan in recognition of his contributions to the Minneapolis community and its youth.
