{KXLG – South Dakota} The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation is inviting students enrolled in any post-secondary institution in South Dakota to apply for their scholarship program. The application is currently open and will close on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 11:59 PM CT. Interested students can apply by visiting SDCFScholarships.com.
During the 12th Annual Prime Time Gala, scheduled for June 21, 2025, scholarships worth $5,000, $4,000, $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 will be awarded to five students. Tyler Melroe, the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation Scholarship Chair, shared, “Over the last nine years since launching the scholarship program and awarding 43 students a total of $125,000 dollars, we are most proud of watching our winners become leaders in our industry. From academics to ranchers, these young people are making an impact!”
The scholarship program, established in 2016, aims to support the long-term viability of the South Dakota beef industry by promoting the nutritional benefits of beef consumption and the value of modern production. It seeks to identify and reward students who are interested in improving beef production and promotion.
In May 2013, the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation partnered with Feeding South Dakota to create the Prime Time Gala & Concert, a signature event designed to raise critical funds for their mission of providing more beef to food-insecure families throughout the state. Funds raised from the Prime Time Gala & Concert also support the scholarship program, which provides $15,000 in funding to students across South Dakota.
Since the first Prime Time Gala + Concert in June 2014, the organization has raised over $2,720,044 for Feeding South Dakota.
The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation will host the 12th Annual Prime Time Gala + Concert on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, featuring a concert headlined by Jordan Davis, with special guests Scotty McCreery and Weston Frank to follow at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
