Three local students earn Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships – Daily Journal

The Johnson County Community Foundation has selected three local students to receive the 2025 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.
Franklin Community High School students Anna Brumley and Kalli Cadwell and Whiteland Community High School student Haroon Mardanzai are recipients of this year’s Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. The scholars were selected because of their community involvement, academic achievement, character and leadership, according to the foundation.
The scholarship provides full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for books and equipment for four years. The scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students leading to a baccalaureate degree at any eligible Indiana public of private nonprofit college or university.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholars may also participate in the Lilly Scholars Network, which connects both current scholars and alumni with resources and opportunities to be active leaders on their campuses and in their communities. Both the scholarship program and LSN are supported by grants from Lilly Endowment to Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) and Indiana Humanities.
This is the 28th year that JCCF has administered the scholarship locally. Each year, the JCCF scholarship committee evaluates applicants and chooses the recipients. Applicants were evaluated based on volunteer community service, academic preparation and performance, leadership and good character. Finalists were invited to the interview round, from which final nominees were submitted to the ICI for the final selection of the recipients.
“These deserving individuals have earned this full tuition scholarship through their exceptional dedication, passion, and potential,” Kim Kasting, president and CEO of JCCF, said in a statement on the scholarships. “We are proud to support their academic journey and look forward to seeing the meaningful contributions they will make to the world.”
