The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through its Seoul Policy Centre and Office of Human Resources (OHR), has officially opened applications for the UNDP Student Ambassador Programme in Korea for the March–August 2026 cohort. This prestigious opportunity is designed for motivated students of Korea University who are passionate about sustainable development, global issues, and careers within the United Nations system.

The programme offers selected students a unique chance to serve as ambassadors of UNDP on campus, while gaining first-hand exposure to the work, values, and career pathways of one of the world’s leading development organizations.

About the UNDP Student Ambassador Programme

The UNDP Student Ambassador Programme is a semester-based initiative co-led by the UNDP Office of Human Resources and the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre. Its primary goal is to strengthen engagement between UNDP and the university community by empowering students to promote UNDP’s mission, activities, and career opportunities.

Selected Student Ambassadors act as key connectors between UNDP and Korea University. Through outreach, communications, and networking activities, ambassadors help raise awareness about sustainable development issues while showcasing the diverse professional opportunities available within UNDP and the broader UN system.

At the same time, participants gain invaluable insights into international development work, professional communication, and global policy engagement—skills that are highly relevant for future careers in diplomacy, development, and international organizations.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the UNDP Student Ambassador Programme in Korea, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be a current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at Korea University
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in international sustainable development
  • Show enthusiasm for communication, storytelling, and social media
  • Be motivated to actively promote UNDP activities for the duration of one semester
  • Possess fluency in English, as programme activities and communications will be conducted primarily in English

Roles and Responsibilities

Student Ambassadors are expected to dedicate approximately two hours per week to programme activities, which are organized around three core areas:

1. Communication and Outreach

Ambassadors will actively share UNDP news, publications, career opportunities, and events through social media platforms and university communication channels. They will also support the creation of digital content—such as posts, photos, and short videos—that highlight UNDP’s impact and the diverse career paths available within the organization.

2. Networking and Representation

Participants will help build and maintain relationships between UNDP, the university community, and relevant stakeholders. Where applicable, ambassadors may attend UNDP-related events, represent the student voice, and provide feedback or insights to the UNDP team on youth engagement strategies.

3. Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing

Student Ambassadors will take part in training sessions and workshops organized by UNDP to deepen their understanding of development challenges and career pathways. They are also encouraged to share the knowledge and skills gained with fellow students, inspiring others to explore careers in international development.
