Salary Range: $138,091 – $207,136
Role Overview
The Director of Grantmaking provides strategic and operational leadership for the Foundation’s grant programs. This role oversees the full lifecycle of grants—from development and applicant engagement to award, monitoring, and close-out—ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s mission, vision, and values. The Director fosters collaboration, uplifts grantees, and represents the Foundation at national, regional, and local levels.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise grantmaking staff, providing coaching and professional development.

Oversee grant programs, ensuring alignment with Foundation priorities and values.

Continuously improve grantmaking processes for efficiency, equity, and grantee-friendliness.

Review proposals, coordinate peer review, and prepare board materials and recommendations.

Build trust-based relationships with community leaders, partners, and funders.

Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, legal requirements, and best practices.
Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible work experience in nonprofit, government, or tribal leadership; 3+ years in direct people management.

Proven experience directing and managing grants.

Strong written and verbal communication, consensus-building, and project management skills.

Knowledge of Alaska’s nonprofit sector and philanthropy preferred.

Master’s degree preferred (experience can substitute).

Occasional travel; valid driver’s license required.
