The GLOCAL Master’s Programme — part of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) scheme — trains future leaders to understand how globalisation interacts with local cultures, markets and creativity. The programme is co-funded by the European Union, and offers highly competitive Erasmus Mundus scholarships for outstanding applicants worldwide.
Scholarship Availability & Geographic Balance
A total of 60 full Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available across four programme editions. To ensure geographical diversity, no more than six (6) scholarships per nationality will be granted across these four cohorts — equivalent to 10% of total regular awards.
In addition to the regular scholarships, the programme funds up to 20 extra scholarships specifically targeted at applicants from the following EU-designated regions: Regions 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. These additional places are financed by EU external action instruments and are exempt from the 10% nationality rule.
For a full country list per region, consult the Erasmus+ Programme Guide (pp. 34–35).
What the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Covers
Scholars admitted to the programme receive:
- Full tuition coverage — including any deposit
- Full health and travel insurance coverage
- Optional travel and installation contributions (for visa, residence permit, temporary housing etc.)
- A monthly living stipend for the full programme duration
Note: Scholarship awardees are not liable to pay any tuition. Part of the tuition is absorbed via the scholarship, and the GLOCAL consortium covers the remainder.
