About Generation Climate Europe (GCE)

Generation Climate Europe (GCE) is the largest coalition of youth-led climate and environmental networks in Europe, representing 381 national organisations across 46 countries. GCE works to connect young people and organisations to advocate for a just, inclusive, and green transition across Europe.

As a fast-growing youth-led organisation, GCE brings together staff and volunteers to co-create projects rooted in collaboration, participation, and climate justice.

About the Internship

This role is part of Funding Fairer Futures (FFF), an EU-funded project that strengthens youth and civil society organisations through capacity building, policy dialogue, and financial support.

The internship is designed as a learning-focused placement, offering hands-on experience in network engagement, event coordination, and project development within the NGO and environmental sectors. Interns will co-create a personalised learning plan with the FFF Project Manager, aligning organisational goals with individual interests and development needs.

An extension of up to six additional months may be possible.

Key Responsibilities

As Projects and Network Assistant, you will contribute to:

  • Organising meet-ups, trainings, and events for GCE’s network and FFF grantees
  • Supporting policy dialogues and roundtables connecting young people with decision-makers
  • Developing and implementing a small project within the FFF framework (events, policy, or communications-focused)
  • Collaborating with volunteer teams, particularly communications, to share project stories and impact
  • Supporting documentation, monitoring, evaluation, and reflection activities

Learning & Development Opportunities

Through this internship, you will gain experience in:

  • Coordinating international events and managing logistics across partners
  • Facilitating engagement with diverse stakeholders
  • Designing and delivering a project from concept to completion
  • Creating accessible and engaging communications content
  • Using simple monitoring tools and reflecting on learning outcomes

Supervision & Working Culture

You will be line-managed and mentored by Josh Cope, FFF Project & Finance Manager, who brings over 15 years of experience in the youth sector, organisational leadership, and project management.

GCE prioritises flexible working styles, regular feedback, and supportive supervision. You will collaborate closely with staff, volunteers, and partner organisations in a team culture built on trust, openness, and shared ownership.
