Funding and Support

Selected fellows benefit from various forms of support to enhance their research experience in Germany:

  • Monthly Fellowship: Prospective leaders receive €2,170, €2,470, or €2,670, depending on their training and career level. Postdoctoral researchers receive a monthly fellowship of €2,670.
  • Individual Support: Fellows receive individual support during their stay in Germany, addressing various needs and challenges.
  • Additional Financial Support: Beyond the fellowship, financial support is provided for accompanying family members, travel expenses, full private health insurance, or participation in a German language course.
  • Introductory Event: Fellows participate in a three-week introductory event, fostering connections with other climate protection fellows, visits to businesses and research institutions, and attendance at cultural events in Germany.
  • Alumni Sponsorship: Extensive alumni sponsorship is offered to support long-term connections with cooperation partners in Germany throughout the fellow’s entire professional career.

Host institutes also receive financial support for research costs, with allowances of 800 euros for projects in the natural and engineering sciences and 500 euros for projects in the humanities and social sciences.
