The Kent Community Foundation is seeking donations for the Gail Gese Memorial Scholarship, a fund dedicated to supporting students pursuing careers in behavioral health in honor of the late local educator Gail Gese.
Created by Gese’s friends and colleagues, the scholarship aims to continue her legacy of dedication to education and mental health support.
Gese’s tragic death left a lasting impact on the Kent community, and her passion for helping students reach their potential will be recognized through this fund.
“Her dedication to education and inspiring students to reach their fullest potential would continue to be recognized with the support this scholarship would provide for students intending to pursue a career path in behavioral health,” the foundation said in a release.
The need for mental and behavioral health professionals has never been more urgent, with incidents involving youth mental health crises and community violence occurring weekly, if not daily.
This scholarship supports students committed to entering the behavioral health field, ensuring future professionals are trained to provide early intervention, crisis response, and long-term mental health support.
