The UM Social Justice Scholarship is now open for applications! This prestigious scholarship supports Maastricht University’s core values of diversity, inclusivity, and the rule of law, aligning with the university’s Global Engagement Policy and UNESCO’s commitment to Human Rights and Peace.
About the Scholarship:
This full scholarship offers €34,000 per year, covering tuition, living expenses, and insurance for exceptional students from outside the EU/EEA. Recipients will also benefit from mentorship and training that empower them to strengthen human rights and the rule of law globally.
What’s Covered:
- Living Expenses: €15,925 for 13 months
- Health & Insurance: €700
- Visa & Pre-Academic Training Costs: Paid by UM International Services Desk
- Accommodation: Room provided as part of the scholarship (Please note: Room is mandatory, and not suitable for partners/spouses or children)
Eligibility Criteria:
- Non-EU/EEA nationality
- Must apply for the full-time Globalisation and Law Master’s programme at Maastricht University
- Proven contribution to human rights and/or the rule of law
- Must be under 35 on 1 September 2026
- Must have a GPA of 7.5 or higher (on a 10-point scale)
- Preference for candidates who have not yet completed a Master’s degree

- Master’s Application Deadline: 8 December 2025
- Scholarship Application Deadline: 1 February 2026 (23:59 CET)
- Final Interviews: March 2026
- Scholarship Decision: April 2026
- Duration: 13 months
