The Program:

Eligibility

Applicants must meet specific criteria, including academic qualification, facing barriers to education, and a commitment to addressing climate change. They should be under 35 years old by September 1, 2024, and not have completed a previous postgraduate degree.

Application Timeline: Applications open on October 23, 2023, and close on December 7, 2023. Interviews take place in February 2024, and the academic program starts in September 2024.

Scholarship

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh will provide postgraduate on-campus (Master’s) and online scholarships (Master’s & Diplomas) to students from Sub-Saharan Africa with proven academic and leadership potential who have access to few educational opportunities. The scholarships are available for the 2024/25 academic year.

In addition to the scholarship, MCF Scholars will participate in activities as part of the wider Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh, including work-based placements, mentorships, and other activities during the academic year.
