ZANESVILLE, Ohio – To many students, college tuition is just paperwork that is something that can be worried about at a later time.
Muskingum County Community Foundation Director of Programs Beth Fox discussed the various scholarship opportunities that they are offering along with the value those grants can provide.
“We’re super excited about this month and in some into the next,” Fox said. “We have just opened 54 local scholarships for Muskingum County students. And so they are live right now and we are super psyched to be able to offer those to our students. We also have an additional about 120 local and regional scholarships, information that you can search on our website.”
Fox recommends that students begin their scholarship research early and look deeply into the requirements to put forward their best effort toward the application process.
“So with most of our scholarships, not all but most; they’re gonna want a good bit of background on the students themselves,” Fox Said. “So some personal background, what school they came from, what activities they’re involved with. We recommend to most of our students to compile what we call an activities resume. Similar to a professional resume but these are just listing the different organizations, groups or contacts you’ve had experience with in your high school years. And those activity resumes really give a clear picture for our reviewers.”
Fox says scholarship applicants with the best activity resumes, letters of recommendation and the most personal essays are the most likely to be awarded.
