The Missouri Broadcasters Association (MBA) announced Wednesday that 15 scholarships were awarded to students in Missouri pursuing careers in broadcasting.
Avery Gordon and Emily Worthmore were awarded the MBA Foundation’s Charles Earls Broadcast Scholarship. Gordon, from Marceline, is a senior at Marceline High School and plans to pursue a journalism degree at the University of Missouri. Worthmore, from St. Louis, is a Lindenwood University student double-majoring in broadcast and digital marketing.
Charles Earls was a Missouri native who operated radio stations in Missouri and surrounding states for decades. He served as the association’s president in 1975 and 1976 and was later inducted into the MBA Hall of Fame. Earls passed away in 2022, and his family partnered with the MBA to establish the scholarship in his memory.

In addition to receiving scholarships, all 15 students will have their convention registration fees covered to attend the annual MBA Convention in May.
