GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – Gridley Moose Lodge had its annual Crab Feed and Dessert Auction on Saturday, Feb. 22 for about 170 attendees.
Cost for the event was $85 per person or $800 for a table. There was spaghetti and pizza for those not partial to crab and of course, the tantalizing desserts for sale.
Gridley City Councilmember Jim Roberts, his wife, Pam, and bartender Lisa Jones were in charge of the event.
Guests enjoyed dinner at the Moose Lodge’s annual Crab Feed and Dessert Auction.
“We’re trying to raise money for our scholarships and bring the community the money,” Jones said.
The scholarships are available for children and grandchildren of Moose members: two each from Live Oak, Gridley and Biggs. About 20 applications are usually received. Students interested in applying can contact the Moose Lodge at 530-846-4610.

The Loyal Order of Moose is a service and fraternal organization that began in 1888 when Dr. Henry Wilson established the first lodge in Louisville, Kentucky. The motto is “A burden heavy to one is borne lightly by many.” Membership has grown to about 900,000, spread over 1,300 lodges in 49 states.
Moose members conduct $50 million to $70 million dollars’ worth of service each year, providing for the needs of children, seniors and the community. The fraternity supports Mooseheart City and School, a 1,000-acre community west of Chicago that assists children and teens in need. Another service is giving Tommy Moose plush dolls to law enforcement, firefighters and other emergency workers for comforting children in traumatic situations. In addition, Moosehaven is a 63-acre, five-star retirement community for Moose seniors in Jacksonville, Florida.
