Position Summary
We are seeking a Collaborative Desk Coordinator to oversee our “Collaborative Desk” — a technical infrastructure and support service enabling secure cross-border journalistic collaboration. This role combines IT support, project coordination, and security training to help journalists collaborate efficiently and safely across countries.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and support the Collaborative Desk environment (open-source infrastructure)

Manage user lifecycle: onboarding/offboarding, documentation, and support requests

Provide technical support and guidance to cross-border journalism teams

Conduct security awareness trainings and risk assessments (digital security, data protection, secure communication)

Create accessible tutorials and user guides in plain language

Collaborate on project planning, oversee work packages, and handle administrative tasks

Represent the project at conferences and public events to promote cross-border collaboration and digital security
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who:

Has experience offering IT support and user assistance

Is familiar with digital security best practices, risk management, and data privacy

Is comfortable working with open-source and independent infrastructure (e.g. Nextcloud, Keycloak, Matrix/Signal or similar tools)

Is organized, reliable, able to manage tasks independently and coordinate with teams across borders

Resides in a European country (as defined by the Council of Europe, or Russia/Belarus under terms)
Desirable: Experience working with journalists or media organizations, knowledge of tech policy and digital information ecosystems
Working Conditions & Compensation

Part-time: 0.5 Full-Time Equivalent (approx. 20 hours/week)

Flexibility: Fully remote, flexible scheduling

Travel: About 20 days per year (for meetings/conferences)

Compensation: Pro‑rated from €58,000–64,000 FTE, depending on experience
