Senior Investment Manager – Role Overview

The Senior Investment Manager will lead investment origination, pre-qualification, and deal execution, with a strong focus on ongoing investment management. This multi-layered role requires a combination of financial expertise, business acumen, renewable energy knowledge, and commitment to social impact.

Start Date: January 2026
Reporting To: CEO
Location: Home office in West Africa (with travel to the UK and within Africa)
Salary: Competitive, based on experience


Key Responsibilities

Investment Appraisal

  • Review and assess pre-qualification data for potential investees.

  • Negotiate and finalize term sheets, scheduling and conducting due diligence.

  • Conduct comprehensive financial, legal, technical, commercial, and ESG assessments.

  • Identify ways to mitigate investment risk through covenants, asset coverage, and security structures.

  • Negotiate and close deals while maintaining strong client relationships.

  • Present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee.

Investment Management

  • Oversee investment monitoring, including financial and non-financial covenants.

  • Prepare regular investment performance reports.

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships with investees.

  • Collaborate with other finance providers and stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of investment processes.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with co-investors, match funders, and industry groups.

External Representation

  • Represent Energise Africa at industry events, conferences, and webinars.

  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including investors and sector networks.


Required Skills, Experience, and Characteristics

Skills & Experience

  • Strong financial knowledge with ability to assess complex financial models in Excel.

  • Relevant accounting or finance qualification required.

  • Commercial and analytical acumen.

  • Experience in renewable energy and understanding of debt funding instruments.

  • Knowledge of security structures for debt financing.

  • Excellent English communication, both written and verbal.
