KENNEWICK, Wash. – A local rotary club is hosting an event this Saturday to raise money for a good cause in our community.
Service above self, that’s the motto of the Pasco Kennewick Rotary Club. Rob DiPiazza, a longtime member of the P-K Rotary, says the club consists of a diverse group of individuals collaborating to address the needs in our community through various outlets, including selling a fair staple to raise funds.
“Our biggest one is the elephant ear booth,” he said. “If you ever go to the fair and get an elephant ear, chances are that if it’s a big one, it’s us.”
One of the fundraisers they hold every year is the Wine Gala. This is the fourth year it will take place at the Zintel Creek Golf Course, and this year, they have chosen a Mardi Gras theme.
The Wine Gala raises funds for scholarships and grants for youth in the community.
“We award around $36,000 in scholarships each year. Additionally, we provide $7,000 to Tri-Tech for purchasing tools to help get them started. Furthermore, we distribute approximately $20,000 in grants to non-profits.”
Dipiazza acknowledges that it’s short notice but encourages everyone to find a mask and come to help raise money for a good cause. Tickets are $65, which includes food and drinks. Gala attendees can participate in a silent auction to win Dust Devil tickets, a wine cooler filled with bottles of wine, a Traeger grill, and much more. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Zintel Creek Golf Course.
