The University of Konstanz’s Cluster of Excellence “The Politics of Inequality” invites applications for its Visiting Fellowship Programme for the 2026/27 academic year. The Cluster brings together researchers from political science, sociology, economics, linguistics, and related fields to study the causes and consequences of inequality — and how these inequalities are perceived, mobilised, and addressed by political actors.
This fellowship supports international scholars who want to advance new research on inequality while engaging with the Cluster’s vibrant, interdisciplinary community.

Funding and Support
Each selected Visiting Fellow will receive:

€6,000 per month for living and accommodation costs
-
Up to €1,500 per month in research funds (for conferences, research assistants, fieldwork, etc.)

Relocation support for travel to and from Konstanz (with limits)
Fellows are expected to live in Konstanz for the full duration of their stay and actively participate in Cluster events.
Expectations
During the fellowship, scholars will:

Take part in the Cluster’s activities and seminars

Present their work in the public In_equality Colloquium
-
Share feedback and expertise with early-career researchers
-
Carry out an independent research project aligned with the Cluster’s themes

Researchers from any discipline relevant to inequality research

Applicants whose work aligns with the Cluster’s research agenda
