The National Fund of the Republic of Austria for Victims of National Socialism is now inviting submissions for the Simon Wiesenthal Prize 2025. This annual international award celebrates individuals and groups demonstrating exceptional civic engagement in combating antisemitism and promoting Holocaust education.
Named after the renowned Holocaust survivor and Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal, the prize honours those whose work actively fosters remembrance, awareness, and societal understanding of the dangers of antisemitism.
About the Prize
The Simon Wiesenthal Prize recognizes outstanding efforts in the following areas:
- Active contribution to projects countering antisemitism
- Critical and proactive engagement with antisemitism
- Promotion of education about the Holocaust and its consequences
- Commitment to awareness-raising and preventive measures against antisemitism
Candidates’ initiatives should clearly demonstrate civic leadership, educational value, and a measurable impact on strengthening tolerance and understanding within society.
Award Categories and Prize Amounts
The total prize fund amounts to €30,000, distributed across three categories:
- €7,500 – Civic Engagement to Combat Antisemitism
- €7,500 – Civic Engagement to Promote Holocaust Education
- €15,000 – Main Prize for Outstanding Civic Engagement
Eligibility
- Open to individuals and groups worldwide.
- Applicants may self-apply or be nominated by others.
- Activities must align with the objectives of combating antisemitism and/or promoting Holocaust education.
