Calling all postgraduate and postdoctoral students! Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, invites talented students from around the world to participate in the Innovation Cup 2026, a week-long summer camp where science, business, and innovation meet.

Location: Near Frankfurt, Germany
Prizes: €20,000 for first place, €5,000 for second, €3,000 for third
About the Innovation Cup
The Innovation Cup brings together bright minds from life sciences, computer science, bioinformatics, engineering, and business to:

Develop innovative solutions for unmet customer needs

Build convincing business plans with guidance from experienced professionals

Network with top students and senior researchers from Merck KGaA

Gain insight into R&D and the pharmaceutical industry
Selected teams may also have the opportunity to implement their business plans and explore career options at Merck KGaA.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must be:

Postgraduate or postdoctoral students in life sciences, biotech, bioinformatics, computer science, data science, engineering, or business administration

Advanced MBA students or recent graduates with a life sciences background

Students not currently working as healthcare professionals
How It Works

Apply by January 31, 2026 – Submit your application to join the Innovation Cup summer camp.

Team Selection – Students are grouped to develop ideas in areas such as Oncology, Neuroscience & Immunology, Drug Discovery, Fertility, Synthetic Biology, Smart Manufacturing, and Advanced Electronic Materials.

Summer Camp – Participate in workshops, mentorship sessions, and networking opportunities to turn ideas into business plans.

Judging & Awards – Senior researchers and managers evaluate business plans; winners receive cash prizes and potential implementation opportunities.
Travel, accommodation, and meals are fully covered by Merck KGaA.
