The COMDEKS Phase 4 Call for Proposals is now open in Ghana, offering an exciting funding opportunity for local organizations dedicated to biodiversity conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and community-driven environmental action. Announced by the UNDP COMDEKS–SGP, the 2025 round will award small grants of up to US$30,000 to eligible NGOs, community groups, civil society organizations, and social enterprises operating within the Afadzato South Socio-Ecological Production Landscape (SEPL) in the Volta Region.
This highly competitive grant supports hands-on community initiatives that preserve ecosystems, strengthen biodiversity governance, and empower rural livelihoods. If your organization works in environmental sustainability, community resource management, forestry, agriculture, or renewable energy, this COMDEKS Phase 4 Call for Proposals is a valuable opportunity to scale impact.
What the COMDEKS Phase 4 Call for Proposals Seeks to Support
Under the COMDEKS 4 Programme, applicants are expected to design innovative, community-led initiatives that strengthen ecosystem health while enhancing resilience and livelihoods. Projects submitted under the COMDEKS Phase 4 Call for Proposals should align with the following priority areas:
1. Participatory Conservation Models
Organizations must propose activities that involve communities directly in conserving diverse ecosystems. This includes co-management practices, local stewardship systems, and community-based monitoring structures that ensure long-term sustainability.
2. Policy-Driven Environmental Solutions
Projects that contribute to shaping or influencing relevant national or local environmental policies are encouraged. This extends to actions supporting the Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECM) based on CBD guidelines.
3. Field Activities for Ecosystem and Wildlife Protection
The COMDEKS Phase 4 Call for Proposals prioritizes practical, field-level interventions that protect natural ecosystems, restore degraded landscapes, preserve wildlife, and enhance ecosystem services.
4. Actions Supporting a Circular & Low-Carbon Economy
Eligible proposals may include:
- Climate change adaptation measures
- Renewable energy promotion
- Recycling and waste-management solutions
- Decarbonization initiatives
- Green livelihood projects
These efforts should contribute to long-term environmental sustainability and community resilience.
