Ten students from Mohawk College have received scholarships for Canada’s largest skill trade program.
The Schulich Builders Scholarship Program covers tuition, tools, and living expenses for students enrolling in skilled trade programs at ten participating colleges, including Hamilton’s Mohawk College.

“These students set themselves apart in the application process and now have some financial security so they can focus on their education and training,” said Ron J. McKerlie, President & CEO of Mohawk College.
The program includes five scholarships valued at $20,000 for one-year certificate programs and five at $40,000 for two-year diploma programs.
Out of a pool of 350,000 potential candidates across Canada, over 1,000 students were nominated, and a hundred received this award.
Judy Schulich, Director of the Schulich Foundation, expressed pride in promoting the skilled trades and supporting students pursuing this rewarding career path.
“Canadians rely on the trades to build and maintain infrastructure critical for prosperous communities. Our challenge today is not having enough of these talented people to meet the demand,” Schulich said in a press release.
Mohawk College’s winners are, Ayden D’Orio (Manufacturing Engineering Technician – Automation program), Caleb Kiprutto ( Electrical Engineering Technician – Power program), Rajae Richards (Building Renovation Technician program), Isaac Shaw (Manufacturing Engineering Technician program), Ben Wernaart (Manufacturing Engineering Technician – Automation program), Mackenzie Booker (Construction Techniques program), Ryan Cassalman (Construction Techniques program), Tanner Mifsud (Heating, Refrigeration & A/C Techniques), Nathan Morris (Construction Techniques – Plumbing program)  Tyler Weir (Heating, Refrigeration & A/C Techniques)
