(CNN)- In South Fulton, Georgia, 10-year-old Kendall Rae Johnson is redefining what it means to be a farmer — and proving that success can take root anywhere.
Kendall, the youngest certified farmer in the country, spends her days tending to cherry tomatoes, watermelons, and even her family’s chickens. What started as a backyard hobby has grown into a family farm that she now leads, with her parents proudly following her dream.
“She just wanted to grow,” said her mother, Ursula. “Once she found her love of growing, it blossomed into what you see today.”
That passion has already taken Kendall beyond the garden. South Carolina State University recently awarded her a full-ride scholarship — not for sports, but for agriculture. The university’s president said if athletes can receive scholarships, then so should young agricultural scholars.
For Kendall, farming is more than crops; it’s about confidence, patience, and planting the seeds of a bigger vision. She dreams of owning 100 acres of land one day and continues to inspire others to follow their passions.
