The La Mesa Woman’s Club celebrated its 123rd anniversary last week, honoring its legacy as the city’s oldest community service organization.
Founded on May 17, 1902, the nonprofit club brings together a diverse membership from throughout East San Diego County, united by a mission to support local service projects and improve community life.
As part of its ongoing efforts, the club has awarded the Marjorie Howard-Hartman – La Mesa Woman’s Club scholarship to 296 students, totaling $187,300.
The scholarships support college-bound students within the Grossmont Union High School District.
The anniversary celebration included a welcome ceremony, recognition of new members and a guest speaker from Rady Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
