The 10th annual FORE The Kids Golf Tournament welcomed 32 teams, including 16 youth golfers, to Sunnyside Golf Course on July 19. According to event organizers, this is the most amount of teams participating in the 10 year history of the event and the number of youth golfers participating were also high compared to previous years.
The youth who participated included Jack Morehouse, Leo Erickson, DC Flaten, Jaxson Kemp, Coy Nelson, Trae Malnaa, Mia Peterson, Buddy Jackson, Benson Rasmusan, Eli Love, Olivia Jackson, Laynee Simpson, Broc McColly, Lynn Cook, Jace Scribner and Cam Scribner.
After regular play, a youth Drive, Chip & Putt contest was held where Jaxson Kemp took first and Benson Rasmusan took second, both winning a youth membership generally donated by Sunnyside Golf Course.
As a result of the success of the tournament, two recipients were provided scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each; Laynee Simpson and Coy Nelson.
All funds earned during this tournament goes into the scholarship fund and in the 10 years of the tournament, organizers have been able to give $14,000 in scholarship monies.
