NORTHBROOK, IL — Continuing a tradition that started 35 years ago, 11 Glenbrook North seniors were recently named recipients of the Homer O. Harvey Scholarship, named after the longtime superintendent. All members of the Northbrook Junior High Class of 2020, the students will receive $1,500 as graduating seniors.
The recipients were recognized at the Glenbrook North awards ceremony on May 24. Since 1989, when the fund was established, there has been $384,000 awarded to 409 Northbrook Junior High and Glenbrook High School graduates. The Homer O. Harvey 5K, held on the first Saturday in May annually, is the primary fund-raiser for the scholarships. District officials said the race raised $16,000 this year.
