LOUISVILLE, Ky. (KT) — The Calling Out the Called scholarship initiative by the Kentucky Baptist Convention has resulted in $424,250 being awarded to 177 Kentucky Baptist ministerial students for the 2025-26 academic year.
Michael Cabell, KBC’s assistant to the executive director for convention relations, said those scholarships will go to ministry students attending Boyce College, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Clear Creek Baptist Bible College.
Cabell noted that only about 71-75 percent of the scholarships awarded are paid out because some students make enrollment changes before the semester begins. “We anticipate paying out around $325,000 but have reserves in the event 100 percent of the awarded scholarships are actually used for this year.”
The scholarship award amount was increased to $125 per credit hour, a significant jump from $50 per credit hour last year. That increase means students can receive up to $3,000 per year. Also, there are two additional $5,000 scholarships made to Clear Creek Baptist Bible College students.
“What a joy for Kentucky Baptists to be able to invest in the future ministries of men and women attending Clear Creek, Boyce and Southern Seminary,” said Todd Gray, KBC executive director. “By the grace of God, we will be able to cover a large portion of the tuition costs for 177 students who are members of Kentucky Baptist churches and have a ministry call on their life.
“May the Lord be pleased to use these men and women to advance His gospel all over the world and may the Lord continue to bless Kentucky Baptists as we help these students get the training they need for a life of ministry.”
