For information on submitting an obituary, please contact Reading Eagle by phone at 610-371-5018, or email at obituaries@readingeagle.com or fax at 610-371-5193.
Most obituaries published in the Reading Eagle are submitted through funeral homes and cremation services, but we will accept submissions from families. Obituaries can be emailed to obituaries@readingeagle.com.
In addition to the text of the obituary, any photographs that you wish to include can be attached to this email. Please put the text of the obituary in a Word document, a Google document or in the body of the email. The Reading Eagle also requires a way to verify the death, so please include either the phone number of the funeral home or cremation service that is in charge of the deceased’s care or a photo of his/her death certificate. We also request that your full name, phone number and address are all included in this email.
All payments by families must be made with a credit card. We will send a proof of the completed obituary before we require payment. The obituary cannot run, however, until we receive payment in full.
Obituaries can be submitted for any future date, but they must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. the day prior to its running for it to be published.

The Jacob Karnchanaphati Memorial Trust recently awarded scholarships to 18 Boyertown Area Senior High graduating seniors.
More than 60 people, including families of past and present recipients, celebrated the 2025 award recipients during a dinner held at The Copperfield Inn at Lakeside in Limerick in May.
Michelle and Christopher Karnchanaphati established the Jacob Karnchanaphati Memorial Trust in memory of their son Jacob “JK” Karnchanaphati, 12, of Gilbertsville, a Boyertown student who was entering his first year in junior high when he passed away in the summer of 2015.
“To date, we have awarded just over $500,000 in scholarships to 109 students of Boyertown Area Senior High School since 2016 when the first scholarships were awarded,” Jacob’s mother, Michelle Karnchanaphati, said in a statement.
The 2025 recipients are Cole Peifer, Nicholas Morgan, Sean Owens, Kayla Brennan, Harper Glennon, Madeline Kunsch, Chase Bartman, Cole Boughter, Brayden Burkhardt, Lauren Wensel, Olivia Herman, Caroline Weick, Cody Youse, Brayden Kuhar, Ciera Cameron, Nicole Shimukonas, Kyler Hohenstein and Troy O’Malley.
Each student received a $2,000 scholarship this year.
Given in memory of Boyertown-area soccer player Jacob Karnchanaphati, the purpose of this award is to assist a student who is planning to further his or her education beyond high school.
“The JK Memorial Scholarship program is a terrific way to remember a cherished member of the Boyertown Soccer Club, Jacob Karnchanaphati, while also giving educational assistance to students graduating from Boyertown Area Senior High School,” Megan Boughter said in a statement.
Cole Boughter was one of the 2025 recipients.
“Being around Chris and Michelle, and enjoying their kindness, generosity and friendship, has given our family an extra joy in our lives. We are so honored to accept a scholarship in Jacob’s name for the second time and promise to ensure that his legacy shines bright in the Boyertown community,” said Megan.
The Weick family said receiving the Jacob Karnchanaphati Memorial Award for both of their children, Eddie and Caroline, has been a profound honor.
“It not only provides them with the opportunity to pursue their dreams but also allows our family to be a part of Jacob’s legacy. In this way, his spirit lives on, inspiring not just us but the entire community to cherish and support future generations in Jacob’s name,” stated the Weick family.
Madeline Kunsch, a 2025 recipient, will use the scholarship this fall at the University of Pittsburgh, where she will major in chemistry.
“It is a wonderful way to honor Jacob,” the Kunsch family said in a statement. “Thank you for a beautiful evening celebrating the recipients. We are so appreciative and grateful and cannot thank the Karnchanaphati family enough for all they do, year after year.”
