The Kiwanis Club of Laurel hosted a special luncheon at the Laurel Country Club to recognize the 2025 high school seniors who were awarded annual scholarships from the club.
The students were honored for their achievements and upcoming commencement by the club and family members. A total of 19 scholarships were given to seniors from Laurel High School, Jones County schools, as well as Laurel Christian School and homeschool programs.
A special memorial scholarship was given in the name of Ryan Griffin, a past Kiwanis member. West Jones High School alumni from his graduating class donated in his memory to give a WJHS senior a scholarship in 2025.
The Kiwanis Club of Laurel hosts Pancake Day every year on the first Saturday of December in order to fund the scholarships annually given. The club provides every third-grade student with multiplication and division flashcards with the funds raised on Pancake Day. The club strives to support children in the community by providing annual scholarships and flashcards.
