ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Two high school seniors each win $2,000 scholarships from a Rockford-area community service nonprofit.
Sofia Korasick, from Hononegah High School, and Connor Magnuson, from Rockford Christian High School, were honored Thursday by Rockford Rotary during its annual high school recognition luncheon. The two earned the Burdette Anderson scholarships for their hard work and leadership.
“Without the students and what they do, we wouldn’t have a future,” said President of Rockford Rotary Pete Rundquist.
The scholarships are awarded in memory of Burdette Anderson who was a Rotary Club of Rockford member. The scholarships have been awarded since 2002 and recognize a male and female student among a group of students selected from each of the Rockford-area high schools.
