New Mexico Gas Co.’s $3,000 awards can be for any educational expenses.
Twenty Native American students from New Mexico have received $3,000 scholarships from New Mexico Gas Co.
The $3,000 scholarships may be used for any educational expenses, from traditional bachelor’s and graduate degree programs to trade school certificates and community college programs.
To be eligible, a student must be a resident of New Mexico and a registered member of a New Mexico tribe, pueblo or nation, including students who recently completed high school or earned a GED certificate and are seeking further education.
Among the recipients are Notah Begay III, founder of the NB3 Foundation, golf professional and NBC golf commentator; Margaret Quintana, 2025 NASP recipient, going to the University of New Mexico to major in nursing; and Daija Martinez, 2025 NASP recipient, going to New Mexico State University to major in nursing.
Other recipients represent the Acoma, Isleta, Laguna, Nambe, Santa Doming, Cochiti, Taos and Zuni pueblos, the Mescalero Apache tribe and the Navajo Nation.
