HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) – Did you receive a 2024 WYMT Mountain Classic Scholarship or a 2024 Ralph Gabbard Scholarship?
If so, congratulations!
There are a few things you need to know and do in order to receive the scholarship money.
To receive your scholarship, you must finalize your plans for continued education by:
1) Determine which college/university you will attend in the fall of 2025.
2) Notify WYMT with your decision before the FALL semester begins. The WYMT Mountain Classic Committee will send your $1,000 scholarship to your selected college/university. Please provide your name, address, and student ID # on the notification so your college can apply your scholarship correctly! Email your information to: jennifer.perkins@wymt.com.
The WYMT Mountain Classic Committee will send the scholarship check to your selected school’s financial aid department in your name.
You will not receive a check personally. The money will go directly to your college choice.
Please remember that any college/university listed in the program will match, and sometimes over-match, the WYMT scholarship, subject to the college/university’s requirements.
This is as “one time” scholarship. While a school may match or exceed the scholarship, the WYMT Mountain Classic Committee fund only pays $1,000 once.
You must enroll in college by the 2026 SPRING semester to receive the WYMT Mountain Classic Scholarship. Any scholarships not used by this deadline will be returned to the WYMT Mountain Classic Scholarship Fund for the benefit of future recipients.
