CHAMA PEAK LAND ALLIANCE NEWS RELEASE
Chama Peak Land Alliance (CPLA), is a diverse group of conservation-minded landowners committed to embracing and practicing responsible land, water and wildlife stewardship in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico, has selected two graduating Escalante High School students to receive the 2025 CPLA Conservation Scholarship. The scholarship program is presented in partnership with the Naranjo Ewbank Family Foundation, Rancho Oso del Pardo, and private donations. Student applicants were asked to write an essay about their future plans along with their thoughts on conservation and their career plans.
“These scholarships are important for us, our partners, and for the next generation of conservationists,” said Caleb Stotts, CPLA Executive Director. “The essays from our graduating seniors is always a breath of fresh air and one of the most enjoyable parts of our community work!”
Included below are short excerpts from the recipient’s essays:
“Because I have grown up on a ranch I have grasped the idea of the importance of land, water, and wildlife conservation. Conserving land is important to me because the idea that resources in the future may be scarce is worrisome. I believe in the cruciality of keeping our ecosystems healthy because it’s all connected!” Keelin Faulkner
“Growing up in a small town opportunities are not often given but rather earned. As a child I dreamed about creating a better life for myself and becoming first generation to earn a bachelor’s degree.” Carlos Martinez
CPLA, the Naranjo Ewbank Family Foundation, Rancho Oso del Pardo and our members wish all the graduating seniors the best of luck. For more information on the CPLA scholarship and the recipients, and other CPLA programs, the website is www.chamapeak.org.
