Local students with a passion for agriculture can now submit applications for the coveted 2026 Agriculture Student Scholarships, thanks to the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
The governments of Saskatchewan and Canada announced on Wednesday that four awards are available, including a grand prize scholarship valued at $6,000 and a trio of runner-up scholarships of $3,000 each.
Daryl Harrison, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Agriculture, shared that they’re proud of the passion and drive young leaders continue to display.
“The Agriculture Student Scholarship celebrates young talent and encourages leaders in our world-class agriculture sector,” said Harrison.
Students in grade 12 and recent high school graduates entering post-secondary studies can submit a 1,000-word essay or a three-minute video delving into the challenges of agriculture and ways to address them.
This year's theme for the Agriculture Student Scholarship is solutions to challenges in agriculture, which will focus on new technologies and innovative farming practices.
Abbey Norek, grand-prize winner of the 2025 Agriculture Student Scholarship, noted that she hopes to bring awareness to careers and opportunities in agriculture.
"Trying to get more young people involved in spreading awareness about agriculture and improving public perception is important," she added.
Applications are open from now until March 1. For more information, visit the Saskatchewan Government's website under the Agriculture Student Scholarship.
