HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – UH Maui is getting $2 million to create full scholarships for nursing students for the next 10 years.
The donation is from The Gilbert and Aileen Chuck Foundation.
This comes as the state faces a nursing shortage.
A recent Healthcare Association of Hawaii report predicts that the state will have only 70% of the RNs it needs this year.
The new scholarships will be given to top-ranked students entering the fall semester and top-ranked second-year students.
