Pamela Arroyo Munoz, a senior at Orange Glen High School and Middle College student, has been selected to receive the Gates Scholarship—the 2nd such recipient from the Escondido Union High School District (EUHSD).
Escondido Union High School District (EUHSD) announced that Pamela Arroyo Munoz, a senior at Orange Glen High School and Middle College student, was selected to receive the Gates Scholarship – a highly selective, full-ride scholarship given exceptional high school seniors nationwide each year.
Munoz is the second EUHSD student to receive this honor in 2025, joining Daniel Laguna from Del Lago Academy. Only 300 Gates Scholarships are awarded nationwide each year.
Munoz will attend the University of California, Berkley. As a student of Orange Glen High school’s Middle College program, she has already demonstrated advanced academic achievement by completing both high school and college- level coursework concurrently.
All of her college expenses not already covered by financial aid will be fully funded. Including tuition, room and board, travel, books, and personal items. Beyond financial support the program also offers invaluable mentorship, leadership training, and career development resources.
“We are incredibly proud of Pamela and Daniel’s accomplishments and the opportunities that lie ahead,” said Jon Petersen, EUHSD superintendent. “Having two Gates Scholarship recipients in one year reflects the incredible potential of our students and the commitment of our educators to help students graduate ready for college, career, and life.”
