A long-running local nonprofit is offering three scholarships to students in Cowlitz County.
Altrusa International of Longview-Kelso, a charitable group whose elephant ears are a Go Fourth staple, announced Tuesday that applications are open for three $3,000 college scholarships.
The Altrusa International of Longview-Kelso Scholarship is for a student attending Lower Columbia College in the fall. Students may transfer to a four-year institution in subsequent years and will continue receiving the scholarship in years two through four if they are making sufficient academic progress.
The Jane Kalahan Smith Scholarship is for students attending LCC who plan to attend a four-year school in 2025-27 to study a science field.
The Altrusa Technical/Vocational Educational Scholarship is available to students in one- or two-year programs in trades, manufacturing, industrial or vocational training who will be attending an accredited school for a degree or certificate.
Application forms are available from high school counselors, at LCC’s financial aid lobby or on the LCC website.
Applications must be sent via mail. Altrusa must receive application packets by March 28 to be considered for the 2025-26 school year.
