The community of New Mexico private aviators got together for the 35th year on Saturday at Double Eagle Airport for the Land of Enchantment Fly-in.
Invited by the Experimental Aircraft Association, spectators and pilots mingled on the tarmac with the assistance of youngsters from the ranks of the Civil Air Patrol.
“It’s not all about flying,” said Noah Lavenberg, in his CAP uniform. “It teaches life lessons like respect and perseverance.”
In addition to checking out all the flying machines, there was food, music, the “Fast as Flight” car show and the demonstrations by the Chile Flight formation flying team.
In the past five years, the EAA has granted more than $100,000 in aviation scholarships to more than 30 kids.
